Best VPN's by Category

Founded in 2007, VPN Privacy is a VPN provider based in Montreal, Canada. What we liked about this VPN provider is that it offers a free one-week trial of its VPN services. However, there were far more things that we didn’t like about this provider.

It offers pretty much standard features, but its server network is below average as well as its customer support. The most disturbing thing, however, was the fact that its protection policies are breaching your online privacy. VPN Privacy states that it has a no-logging policy, while it actually keeps logs of your online activity for at least five days.

We believe that you would be better off trusting a VPN provider that won’t abuse your online privacy. Check out the best VPN providers with a no-log policy that we have reviewed on our website, and find a trustworthy VPN provider.

Features

VPN Privacy doesn’t have the most comprehensive set of features. Its best features include:

  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • No-logging policy
  • Up to three simultaneous connections
  • No speed limits
  • PPTP, L2TP, SSTP, OpenVPN protocols
VPN Privacy Features

While these features are okay, the set certainly lacks advanced features like kill switch, leak protection, and P2P support. Without these features, we can’t label this feature set as above average. VPN Privacy provides only the bare minimum, and top VPNs offer more advanced features.

Countries & servers

VPN Privacy has a poor server network. It only has servers in the following countries:

  • The US
  • Singapore
  • Canada
  • Luxembourg
VPN Privacy Countries

VPN Privacy doesn’t state how many servers it has, but considering the low number of countries where it is present, we don’t expect it to have many total servers. This kind of VPN server network is nowhere near enough to be labeled as ideal for geo-unblocking, certainly not when compared to the 60+ countries VyprVPN offer servers in.

Speed & reliability

VPN Privacy doesn’t impose speed limits. At least that’s what the company states on its website. We need a little bit more information than that to confirm its statement.

There’s no information about download limit, server capacity, or average connection speed. They make on claims on how the servers perform when they’re crowded, or if speed differs from one VPN server to another. The only thing we were able to find regarding VPN Privacy’s speed is this statement in the Terms of Service.

Without any data, we can’t make any positive comments regarding VPN Privacy’s speed and reliability.

Pricing & payments

VPN Privacy offers free and paid VPN services. It offers free VPN services only in special cases:

If you own a blog, you’re writing a review, or simply posting about VPN Privacy on social media, you can use VPN Privacy free for one week. VPN Privacy also has multiple pricing plans:

VPN Privacy Pricing Plans

It’s good that the company offers multiple pricing plans, as users are free to choose how long they want to subscribe to its VPN services. The prices that offer, however, are above average. You can choose a VPN like Cyberghost, which is quality, for under $3/month.

VPN Privacy accepts payments via credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal.

Support

When it comes to customer support, it is a well-known fact that the top VPN providers offer extensive customer support that is easy to reach. VPN Privacy, on the other hand, offers average customer support. It doesn’t have a live chat feature, and the only customer support channels you will find on its website are the following:

  • FAQ
  • Blog
  • Skype support
  • How-to guides
VPN Privacy FAQ

Even though VPN Privacy offers multiple customer sections on its website, we are not impressed. The FAQ section consists only of six answered questions; we bet customers have asked more than six. This is average customer support that can certainly use some improvement.

Policies & logging

Customer support is one thing; customer protection is another. VPN Privacy didn’t impress with its customer support, so let’s see if that changes with its customer protection policies:

  • Refund policy: VPN Privacy offers a limited refund policy. Refunds will only be given if the user can’t connect to a VPN server. Once you get confirmation from the technical staff, you will then be allowed to request a refund no later than three days after ordering.

  • Logging policy: Even though the company claims on its homepage that it doesn’t keep any logs of your online activity, the information we found in the Terms of Service section contradicts that statement:
VPN Privacy Logging Policy

What this means is that VPN Privacy controls your online activity while you’re using its VPN client, and that’s a cause for concern amongst many users. They don’t make guarantees like Express VPN does with their zero logging policy, and their location in the British Virgin Islands exempting them from EU and US data retention laws.

Expert recommendation

We don’t trust VPN Privacy. While it doesn’t offer bad features, the rest of its VPN services is plain average. There were a number negatives like the small server network, the undetermined VPN connection speed, and insufficient customer support.

What we disliked the most is the fact that VPN Privacy has poor customer protection policies. It doesn’t have a privacy policy, refund policy is extremely limited, and the no-logging policy is not as good as VPN Privacy keeps log files for five days. These are all red flags in the VPN industry.

You would be better off with a proven and reliable VPN that won’t breach your online privacy. Check out the best VPN providers we have reviewed on our website, and find the right VPN solution for you.
