Created in 2010, NextGenVPN is a VPN provider that didn’t live up to its full potential. While NextGenVPN has got some good features, like the DNS leak protection, it also lacks some necessary elements. For instance, it doesn’t have any server network information on its site, which we find super weird.
NextGenVPN offers abnormally high prices, with the monthly plan costing $11.95 per month. It also doesn’t have proper customer support, and it says heavy encryption will cripple your VPN connection and slow down your speed by 20-30%, where quality VPNs like IPVanish only it us by 10% when we tested. Probably the only good thing is its solid customer protection policies.
NextGenVPN is a below-average VPN provider with nothing impressive to offer. For the price of its services, you’d be better off choosing a top VPN provider from our list to get maximum value for your dollar.
NextGenVPN offers the following features:
NextGenVPN offers pretty much a basic feature set that is common among top VPN providers. There is still room for improvement here, as it doesn’t have a kill switch feature and other elements. Nonetheless, these features should be enough for basic online protection.
NextGenVPN doesn’t provide any information regarding its server network. On several occasions, the company says that it doesn’t have hundreds of servers, which lead us to assume that the server network is not that big. We did manage to find this information, vague as it may be.
NextGenVPN makes excuses about not having a sizable network by stating that it only uses dedicated VPN servers and doesn’t collaborate with third parties in foreign countries. That still doesn’t justify the absence of network information on its website. This is a major blow to its reputation and not something we’re used to seeing from a VPN provider.
NextGenVPN claims to provide unlimited bandwidth, though it openly states that 20-30% loss in speed must be expected due to heavy encryption.
While NextGenVPN says it monitors its servers at all times for a speedy and uninterrupted VPN connection, it doesn’t exclude the possibility that slow connections may happen at certain times.
NextGenVPN offers monthly, six-month, and yearly pricing plans. The yearly pricing plan offers the biggest savings, allowing users to save by up to 40%.
The monthly plan costs $11.95 per month. Considering that NextGenVPN doesn’t have the features to be on par with top VPNs, this plan is too expensive. The company has a 30-day refund policy protecting all pricing plans.
NextGenVPN doesn’t have proper customer support. On the website, you can find the following customer support:
NextGenVPN doesn’t have live chat, and the FAQ is the only means available to learn about the provider’s services. The Contact Us and Help Desk links lead to the same page, which is weird and misleading. We’re not satisfied with this customer support.
NextGenVPN offers the following customer protection policies:
NextGenVPN offers solid protection policies that are pretty much standard among top VPN providers.
Despite claiming to be reliable and trustworthy, NextGenVPN is far from that. It has some good qualities but lots of downsides. The feature set is mainly okay, and we were impressed with the DNS leak protection.
NextGenVPN, however, doesn’t have any description of its network on its website. We don’t know how many servers it has or where they’re located. It openly states that VPN connection may burden your speed. It has unexpectedly pricey plans, with the monthly package costing $11.95 a month. Customer support is almost non-existent, but the protection policies are sound.
NextGenVPN is not a VPN provider that we would recommend to you. Move on, and try the top VPN providers we reviewed on our site. Last, their slogan is, well, it’s words…
Our ratings for nextgenvpn review are based on our professional experience and extensive tests with VPN providers between April 2014 – July 2014, taking into account user feedback and reviews we receive. As a friendly disclosure, some VPN providers do compensate us for customers we refer them, but this in no way effects their ranking on our website, nor our reviews.
